I have Navigation in my 07 with the 6 Disc Changer/MP3 player...

How can I convert APPLE IPOD files to MP3

I burned the files from the apple software to a disc and the Jeep player just said no files available...

I thought these were MP3 files... forgive my ignorance.. I am new to Ipods...

I just didnt want to have my IPOD In the jeep with the adapter.. I can just put in 6 discs loaded with music!

If it is not possible I will purchase the IPOD interface...

Well, did you get these off iTunes? They could be protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) which might make them inaccessible to the player? Also, what bitrate are they... wkjeeps.com has a list of what bitrates are supported.

NO they were put into itunes software directly from CDs..

They are listed as a MPEG-4 audio file... not MP3

I am confused as to why this wont work?

Different audio formats...

Not sure if the REC plays MPEG-4?

I use a program called Easy CD Extractor to rip my own music, and it also has the ability to convert file types. I bought it before all the other free programs would rip at a decent bitrate. I haven't converted itunes files to .mp3, but can say if anything can do it this one can. For the price I just love the software.

Here's a link to the buy it page which has a table detailing the differences between basic and pro. Basic is like $17 and pro is like $30. I bought it 10 years ago and still get free updates regularly from them.

It will convert MP4 to MP3.

You can do it right in Itunes. 2 things to do:

1. Go to edit, preferences. go to advanced tab, and then importing. Change the "import using" to mp3 encoder.

2. Click on music on left (make sure your whole library is visable), highlight all of your songs. Right click on highlighted songs, and select convert to mp3. Depending on your library this could take a while, and you will have to delete the aac version. Find your music folder and delete all of the duplicated files.

To check and see if this was successful, click on view, view options and check kind.

The songs from itunes have some sort of drm (digital rights management) that stop you from doing so. I am sure you might be able to google something that might defeat that.

I don't see how it would be illegal anyways, since you purchased the song.

My purchased music from Itunes I 'backup' to CD and then re-import them in as MP3 you can select which playlist to backup so you do not need to do all of them.

Also Itunes has a option under view to show duplicates you can then delete the dupes from the list.
