Hi everyone - I'm new here - have searched this forum & the web - seems like quite a few people are having problems same as me but no answers on how to fix things. I have a 2006 commander with a 4.7 in it - just the base model.

During the summer I had a problem with my rear pass window - would not work with the switch on the door - just the master switch would work with it - I just left it calling it a minor issue.

Then yesterday the rear driver side window rolled down by itself immediately after I started the vehicle - it would not go up with either the door switch or master switch - in fact now both rear windows won't move - and I have a window down to boot.

Anyone have a problem with rear windows and find out what the problem actually was ? and how to fix it ??

Any help is very appreciated.

This sounds like broken wires in the door boot to me. I would suggest pulling the boot back between the driver door and body and inspecting the wires for cuts or breaks. Could be the same thing going on with that back door as well.

Hi Schlotzky - thanks for the reply - I have tried wiggling the boots while depressing the switches - no effect.

Just trying to find someone who has had that problem and managed to get it fixed.

Hi Maytag - thanks for the reply - I thought that thread was on hold - am taking mine in tomorrow - not going to monkey with too many variables - I will hopefully have an answer - we need the luck.

So after leaving it with my mechanic - I got a call about an hour later - the problem with my rear windows was simple - it seems quite a few wires in the rubber boot that goes between the door & door piliar were broken/frayed due to age hardening and flexing. They called GM for replacement wire harnesses for both rear doors - they were 52.00 each - the gm parts guy said he sees this all the time with this vehicle. So I'm willing to bet that this is the case with most similiar problems with this vehicle as well as the front windows and front boot in the front door. I suppose I should have cut or pulled the boot back as suggested above - either way it will be fixed shortly !!:)

Maybe you should consider a new mechanic if he's going to try to replace the wiring harnesses in your Jeep with GM parts... ;)

Good to hear the fix is simple!
