Is that your new 4 door Wrangler? I'm thinking when the time is right, that will be my next vehicle. I want it in the Army green color, hardtop with the removable sections. Tell us about it - what are your plans? You must be into Monster drinks. You had the logo on your Commander - from the video when you were selling it - and I see two cans on the back seat! :eek:rangehat:

yea thats my new girl.
still trying to figure out a name for her.
and yea, i wanted 4lo, and my commander didnt have that since she was only a 3.7L
im loving the wrangler though. totally different feeling ride to it. but i love it none the less.
im planning on getting 4" lift, 35" nitto mud grapplers, 17" ballistic jester rims, exhaust, snorkel. (basically everything you possibly can fit onto it, i want it)

Congrats on the Wrangler man. So tell us, what are the major differences between that and the XK besides the obvious? I too will trade in for a JK when the time is right and it seems that so far the ONLY thing I will not be looking forward to is the smaller interior space; how much smaller is it? I'm a big guy so I love the room in my XK, especially width-wise lol. The Wrangler seems to be a little tighter around the waist is that true?

Btw- where do you go ride those ATVs? I plan on getting a UTV for me and my son.

Few more..
How did you attach those lights to the bumper on your XK? I like the placement - I have never seen them mounted there. Nice job. :eek:rangehat:

Biggest difference IS quality of ride. Right now, im running stock height, with the red stock shocks. and i honestly feel like im constantly bouncing up and down. i test drove a wrangler on 35s with 3.25" lift. and i was much smoother. so i know its just my shocks right now.
but another is noise. Since i just bought this wrangler, i havent driven with the top off or the doors off. so idk how loud that is going to be. but i know its going to be insane. But, with a soft top, you can hear the acceleration of every car that goes by. which, doesnt bother me personally, cause i play music anyways.
But also, the sound quality. The infinity sound system (isnt in my car) isnt that great, but it is nice. I have the stock junk sound system. and its killing me. im getting it all changed out. purchased 5 channel amp already. just need speakers, a sub and a head unit.
i had a 3.7L, the acceleration was decent with the stock tires. and now comparing the acceleration with my 31's on here compared to my 31s on the commander, wrangler is better. the light weight is what the difference really is.
if you are looking for a high quality car, wrangler isnt it.
the carpeting just comes up with little to no strength. and then the bottom of the car is right there.
im going to dynamat the car, so it has a quieter feel to it to block out road sound.
but over all, I LOVE THE CAR!
Once i get the upgrades going, i will never leave her.

and as for the lights i put on the commander bumper, i just drilled a hole in the bumper. i knew i wasnt going to be keeping the commander for very long. so i didnt reinforce it. although, it does need something behind it. cause when i drive, the lights just bounce, and you can see them bouncing while driving. i love the look of it, just needs something behind it to attach to. if you remove the bumper, you will notice the fascia, or a stiff/thick plastic frame around the actual car frame, im sure you can attach it to that though.

Here is the picture i took when i had the bumper off.
the plastic fascia around the car frame. Its stiff and sturdy enough to hold PIAA off road lights, and those lights are heavy too. (the bumper where i had them attached to was sturdy enough to, just bounced when i drove)

so ive had my wrangler now for about 2 months. and its safe to say, I LOVE IT.
although I'm 18 dont forget.
it does seem....cheaply made at times...
but for me, its perfect.
for example, the carpet, you can just pull it up from any point and it all comes apart. but since im always doing wiring in the jeep, it makes it easier for me. the suspension is bouncy on small bumps with stock height. i dont mind though.
im yet to take off the doors, since its -7 here right now...
I'm getting front bumper, Rock Rails, Tube Doors (F+R+), Roof Net for when tops off, exhaust, and in middle of doing sound system. (get sub in monday, and ordering new speakers tuesday).
im getting lift and tires later. i already have good enough tires to last me till then.
I LOVE HER.
it's the perfect car for customizing and off roading. and gas mileage is a plus! my commander was always in the 9s (V6) and i would hit 12s during summer. but with the wrangler, in winter, gunning it at every light (in 2wd) and driving 2 days straight in 4wd (snow storm) im at 15.8. before i started driving like i stole it i was getting 17.9mpg.
and the 4x4 system is something that will take time getting used to. since its limited slip. cannot drive it on pavement. get insane bouncing. and its horrible for tranny.
but 2wd is amazing. (first time with 2wd vehicle, other than sports car) but my friend who has lifted commander on 31s, drove through 15" of snow. had to go in 4lo at some points. and was having trouble. i drove behind him in 2wd whole time. only part i had trouble with was up hill tight turn, had to go in 4hi for that one. i was so amazed by it. and since my car is about 6" narrower than his, i couldnt just drive in his tracks, had to make my own. i have 255x75x17 BFG KM1s (stock) and he has 265x70x17 BFG KM2s.
