rocker trim fell off

I was doing some light offroading today and I came down hard and the black rocker trim piece came off. Has anyone had to replace this piece yet? How much?
What about the air deflector under the front bumper. It got broke over the winter plowing through some deep snow. Any idea on cost for this?

I have one complaint about my Commander. The bumpers feel so cheap and loose. When I came down on the back bumper it pushed it up and broke a tiny corner piece off of each taillight. I noticed a couple of the points where it fastened underneath with those plastic plugs have gotten bent out of shape.
I have to remember that the plastic trim pieces on a Jeep Commander are no better than any other car and cannot take the abuse you would expect them too.

Nice link, will probably get them next month after tax time. They're local to me too so I can pick them up.

The book says to REMOVE that air deflector before going offroad. As to the rock rails, they are A JOKE. Nothing but cheap plastic and of no value other then looks. Dont replace them, find STEEL ones that will give you PROTECTION before you do REAL DAMAGE to your vehicle. john

I removed the air deflector immediately and tossed it in the trash. I have been getting the same fuel economy as those who left it on and have had no cooling problems (and believe me, AZ would be the place to notice cooling issues first).

Kent from AEV had said that they were working on the metal rock rails that look pretty much like the plastic rocker covers. I am not sure if they are ready yet as I can imagine is up to their necks in work with their new wheels and all their new JK parts.

4xGuard also makes a fairly nice looking rock rail for the XK and WK. You can see it here: http://www.4xguard.com/Products/side_guard.html

EDIT: Oops, didn't see that someone had already mentioned the 4xGuard ones.

Re: rocker trim fell off

I ordered a new rocker panel trim to replace the broken one. It will be around $50. Could of been a $200 part, you just never know.
I am not going to replace the air deflector. It hangs too low.

Plastic Rocker Panel Cover

Anybody know the part number of the plastic rocker panel cover (may not be the right term)? The wife noticed the passenger side one has a broken tab and is loose.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Or buy a steel one... make that a pair. Check out 4xGuard. I haven't purchased them yet, but if I had to replace the plastic, I would definitely be looking to get these. $500 plus $80 shipping. I don't know how that will compare to OEM plastic part.

There is a thread about these. You'll see they are designed for the Grand Cherokee but someone on the forum has put them on the Commander and they fit.

I looked them up some time ago and they were about $88 a pair.

Well, the steel ones sure are more expensive. But maybe they do more than improve the looks too. But I know I would be hard pressed to spend $580 instead of $88. I suppose it would depend on how much off-roading I was going to do.

Which side are you missing, Casino? If you don't want to spend the 4xGuard Side Guards -- which is what I'd highly recommend doing for improvements all around -- I do have a brand-new OEM driver's side rocker I could sell you. I bought an extra one when I was thinking about making "fillers" for the Side Guard gaps (see the thread for details), but I've since decided that the Side Guards look just fine as they are.
