Based on my 7 year tenure here, as a member & Administrator on this forum, I see a very clear need for some very specific rules here, that will apply to any forum member, posting a vehicle for sale in this sub-forum.

These rules & policies outline your specific obligations to the JeepCommander.com Community, when you make the decision to post a vehicle for sale on this forum:

If you're not planning on following these rules, DO NOT post a Commander for sale here;

1) If you post a vehicle for sale - please perform your due diligence as a seller & forum member, by coming back to the forum to check your thread frequently to respond to questions from forum members who may be interested in buying the vehicle that you have for sale;

In light of this - if you post a vehicle for sale here, come back to the forum and check your thread AT LEAST ONCE A DAY; This is your responsibility to the JeepCommander.com Community as the seller. If you do not (and I'll be checking) your vehicle for sale thread will be removed or locked and you will no longer be permitted to post anything for sale on this forum.

This is a zero tolerance policy; Violations will be dealt with swiftly & accordingly.

If you as the seller, have some kind of extenuating circumstances come up, where you will be unable to check your thread every day, please communicate this to a Forum Moderator, or, a Forum Administrator, in a timely manner either by private message, profile message, or, by e-mail. If you fail to do so, you're thread will be closed. We will not sit around for weeks on end, waiting to hear from you.

1A) You must be a POSTING member of the JeepCommander.com Community for a minimum of 60 days, to post any vehicle for Sale on this website. This is designed to protect the forum membership & the JeepCommander.com Community as a whole, by ensuring you have an established reputation & have earned a certain level of trust on the forum, prior to conducting any sales or transactions here. There are no exceptions to this policy.

All too often, I've seen people join the forum, post a vehicle for sale the same day and then never return to answer questions, from forum members - probably because they posted the item for sale on craigslist or some other website, sold the item, and never had the consideration to come back here & notify a Staff Member (Moderator or Administrator) that the item has been sold, so the thread could be properly closed.

This policy puts a stop to that.

Violators of this policy will be dealt with very swiftly & accordingly.

If your vehicle is sold here - or sold through another website, please notify a forum moderator in a timely manner (within 2 days of the sale), so we can properly close the thread and avoid any further inquiries.

Here are some additional steps you are encouraged to take in order to properly monitor your thread;

Click on your Avatar (Top right of screen) then select "Account Settings" and select "Preferences".

Under "E-mail Options" check the box that says:

1) Receive e-mail when a new conversation message is received;

Next, on the same page under "Content Options" check the 2 boxes that say:

1. "Automatically watch content that you create"
2. "And receive e-mail notifications"

These selections will notify you via e-mail if someone PM's you, also known as a "Conversation Message"

It will also notify you via e-mail if someone responds to the thread where you have posted something for sale.

2) When pricing a vehicle you are trying to sell, please keep the asking price at - or close to - fair market value, within reason. Aftermarket modifications/upgrades will be taken into account and will obviously raise the asking price when compared to fair market/blue book value. All Vehicles marked as "For Sale" must have an "asking price" listed.

3) Clear Photos of the Vehicle's interior & exterior ARE REQUIRED along with a detailed description of options, equipment & current mileage. The more details you provide, the more likely you'll be successful selling your vehicle. Threads without clear photos will be promptly removed.

4) At a minimum, YOU MUST PROVIDE at least a contact phone number with your vehicle for sale post; (This is nothing different from what would be required in a normal classifieds add) An e-mail address is also encouraged - but not required. Vehicle for sale posts without a contact phone number will be deleted and a forum warning, or, infraction will be issued to the offending party.

5) Handle all transactions with common sense and courtesy - "Let the Buyer Beware" applies here, so, conduct yourselves accordingly.

6) These rules may be changed, or amended, without notice. Failure to comply with the rules will result in the deletion of your thread/post - along with the possibility of being banned from the forum.

Required Reading: Buy/sell forum rules.

Please read ALL of these additional guidelines BEFORE posting

1. Title: Begin all thread titles with the appropriate key: F/S: (For Sale) WTB: (Want to Buy) WTT: (Want to Trade)

2. Price:

If your pricing is negotiable, consider adding OBO (or best offer), but no open bidding is permitted
No speculation or "feeler" threads to test the waters - only post actual 'For Sale' threads

3. Approved Items:

Auto-related items only
No links to ebay or other outside selling sites
Private party ads only - NO vendor ads / NO retail or commercial sales
No repeats or multiples of the same item sold by the same seller. This forum is intended for occasional private party offerings only; ongoing or repeat sales give the appearance of a commercial venture and will be removed. Please apply for a Supporting Vendor account
No contraband/ illegal items

4. Writing Your Ad: For ease of reading and best response...

Post Your Location: Include your city/state/zip code in your 1st post and/or hread tile so interested parties don't have to ask. If you list your "shipped from" zip code, buyer's can look up shipping prices on their own
Photos: Tip: Buyers want to see pics of the item and those ads will be more successful. If you include a sheet of paper in the photo with your username and the date members can feel a bit more reassured that the photos are yours and are of the actual item you are selling rather than a photo you grabbed off the net. Buyers should be aware however, that it is not beyond the realm of possibility that seller photos could be altered
List Items: If selling more than one item, list line-by-line rather than a paragraph format - Don't use all bold font or all caps
One Thread: Please do not create more than one thread for multiple items for sale, consolidate all items in one post and modify as you go - multiple threads may be merged or deleted w/o notice
No Outside Links: DO NOT LINK to other sales websites, forums, or auction sites, including eBay - post edited or removed immediately

5. Replying to an ad:

No "Thread Crapping" - DO NOT post a reply if you have no intention of making an offer - this section of the board is NOT a discussion forum. PM all comments, questions, and opinions not directly related to the sale
Address all questions to the seller/ Allow the seller to answer all questions
Do not offer 'better price' re-directs or links to someone else's sale
Do not offer your item for sale in someone else's F/S thread

6. The Deal: Conduct actual negotiations via PM or email, the forum does not need to know the details. Don't forget to rate your buyer/seller via iTrader

7. Notify a Forum Moderator to Mark Threads "Sold" or "Found": You may also make a final "sold" / "found" post as a courtesy to those searching the forum who may come across your thread. Forum Moderators will promptly close these threads to cease further inquiries and activity.

8. Disputes: Are not the business of forum members and should be handled privately. If every possible attempt to settle a dispute has been made with no resolution, a negative rating in the member's iTrader account is permitted. Post comments in a factual manner. For forums that have one, an alternative choice is to post a thread in the Buyer/Seller/Vendor Review section (following the specific rules of that section), however, you MUST choose one of these methods, NOT BOTH!
