I got a bunch of crap from the fellas at work..(All have lifted wranglers/trucks) saying that the spacer lift is crap. Now, i don't plan to be rock climbing by any means but when the apocalypse comes i need to know that i can run over some zombies and hit the off road. So someone please reassure me that the RC 2in spacer lift is a good product that will last awhile..

thanks

I've done a writeup on the RC lift, and you can find it here. It's also listed under a Crown Automotive part number, and that's the version I bought, but they're the same lift kit. The highlights are that it's great for some extra ground clearance and won't compromise the stock ride qualities, but if you're gonna be doing any serious off roading you'll want to go with a proper spring lift like the OME kit.

Agree with @consumedbywater I have the kit myself, though I haven't installed it yet, but tons of people have said the same thing: looks great and will do some basic stuff off road but if you're planning on doing anything serious, suggestions have been to go with the OME spring kit with new shocks.

Plenty of people on here running them for years.

But you do not gain any suspension travel or damping or spring rate with a spacer kit. the only advantage off road is the ability to run more tire and the approach/departure angle.

I've been running the 2 inch RC lift for 6 years in 2 different Jeeps and I've had it in Big Blue since about a month after I bought her, in July 2014.

I've run it all over the place - the Mountains of Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky and North Carolina and never had a problem.

It would also be a good idea to upgrade some of your other suspension components over time, IE; shocks, springs, UCA's etc.

I read your writeup consumedbywater and it was very helpful. I'm going to take your advice and skip past the spacer lift and go straight to the OME HD coil lift. Thanks for the writeup.

Makes sense. The cost difference between ome springs and rough country lift is only like $150 or so.
