I'm just not a leather seat guy in cars. However, I've finally had it with the ease at which the cloth in the Commander stains. I've had some issues with my sunroof again that the dealer has been looking at (and now they're ordering an entire sunroof assembly). Until that happens, when it rains my seats get wet...and stain, from rainwater. Ridiculous. I'm pretty particular about liquid consumption in my cars, and honestly this one looks like I have 3 kids that spill constantly.

Is anybody making custom fit seat covers for the Commander? I'm not a big fan of neoprene, but not even Wet Okele has a cover yet. I'd love to see pictures of anyone's covers if they have some installed. (Not just temporary covers)

Re: F'n Seat Cloth Material

i noticed that too. we had a small mark on our seat and i scrubbed it with water and made it into a big mark. i would think that a company with a reputation for off roading and mud would have a more user friendly material.
our jeep still looks like new but the seats look like crap with all the marks.

Re: F'n Seat Cloth Material

I can relate, I have a 99 ckerokee that has cloth seats, no matter how hard I tried I could not get dust out of them or get stains out. My 16 year old wrecked the front end so we are in the process of rebuilding it, (it has over 250k, clean one owner) anyway I pulled out all the seats and used my pressure washer to clean seats. They look brand new and no more dust.:)

I am guessing that within the next year or two all cloth seats on Jeeps will go to the YES! Essentials fabric that is available on the Wrangler, Patriot, and Compass. I have the leather in my Commander but can relate because my Cherokee has cloth seats.

Re: F'n Seat Cloth Material

I know exactly what you mean.

My XK came with cloth seats and they looked real nice but getting them dirty and worn was contantly on my mind and I hate think about that kind of stuff. I went out and got a leather relacement kit and they look great.

Now I don't worry about a thing...just wipe it off

btw, I have the cloth seats for sale if anyone is interested.

So, do we know how to remove these stains?
I have grey cloth interior, and will all the rain in North Texas, All of my seats are stained now. I have gotten them wet before, but this time the rain was loaded.

Re: F'n Seat Cloth Material

I have the problem with the grey cloth seats guys. I tried using one of those spray cleaners for carpet and seats and it made it a whole lot worse. So, I have no idea what to do. Maybe I will try what ranger did and pressure wash them all. Maybe that'll work. I have seen some seat cover kits for the commander on ebay but nothing that I liked.

I also got a little rain in and noticed it left watermarks on the canvas-textured fabric. I simply wiped the entire section of the seat with a damp (not dripping) cloth and that did the trick.

Perhaps they treated the fabric with something and my technique actually cleaned the treatment off? I dunno.

I prefer leather seats - because cloth seats are typically that velvety cheap sofa cover type fabric. But I really like the look and feel of the Jeep fabric.

I have an '06 with the grey cloth seats and no staining problem. We live in the great NW so it obviously rains a lot and the seats get wet; also a boxer dog that goes with us all the time, she occupies the front seats when we're out - no urine, but she sometimes licks or drools - no stains at all. Go figure.

I remember seeing a TSB on seat stains. I would print it out and bring it over to the dealership if the stains are that bad.

This was on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=190107973746&rd=1,1

They did not sell, I bet if you contact the seller you can get a good deal.

Looks like they broke up the set and currently list the fronts only, contact them if interested in full set

This is the store where I picked up my DVD system.

It looks like CoverKing makes a set. Spendy, but if they work I don't mind I guess. Only issue is that if you wanted to cover all the rows it's probably just as cheap to find a wrecked XK with leather.

I have the same problem, I even got the interior scotch guarded, but you tell we wear jeans all the time, the seats have that look now.

has anyone used coverking or come up with a good solution to removing stains from the cloth. I live in southern cal. and they are only a 1 1/2 hour drive from me. But the manufacture does not accept walk ins and you can not return product.
