Shifts HARD into second gear

Hoping for a little help from anyone. I have a NAG1 transmission that shifts fine in every aspect, except when it goes from 1st to 2nd. When it shifts it slams really hard. It almost feels like being rear-ended. Any ideas out there?

When was the last time the fluid and filters were changed?

Flush when I got it last month. Flushed all the fluids, bad habit I have.

So what do you have as far as year, model, engine?
You should fill out your signature form so people can have an idea.
Did you do it or did a shop flush it?
Took to a shop, 2006, 3.7L, NAG1

Pan was clean?
Does it shift 1-2 at a higher rpm than the other shift points?
No, again, it shifts as it should, up and down, will shift depending on throttle, it just slams really hard from 1+2. Downshift from 3-2 or 2-1 is normal.
I thought my transmission was shifting hard until I realized the upper differential mount was shot. Replaced that and the transmission was smooth as butter. ...just something to check if you haven't already.

@CommanderHalas
I made a signature for you from the data you had entered, change if you wish. It would be nice if you provider the model like Limited or Sport.

Wouldn't that happen in all shifts, not just 1 - 2?
And on downshifts too?

If you have the "Tow/Haul" button, you might press it and see how it shifts using the lower shifting action.

Actually ya, I did notice it most on 2-1 downshifts when there was less torque on it, but could hear it on 1-2 shifts as well. I just reread the thread and see you do NOT experience the symptom on downshifts, so this might not be the issue but probably still worth checking them since the bushings are prone to failure.

nothing for nothing, but the NAG1 has to be filled professionally (its based on temperature since there is no "dipstick" and one has to be purchased separately) so if a dealer did the flush you're good. Otherwise - Transmission fluid filling increments.....
I have an 08 diesel grand cherokee and it does the same thing... shifts super hard 1-2, but it shifts harder the more throttle I give it... if I ease into it then it's not bad. Also it seems to be much worse when warmed up. When it's cold it is still there but much much smoother.

I'm not familiar with that nag1 transmission but does it have the ability to shift manually? Just curious if it does if you shift it manually rather than letting the valve body do the thinking does it still do it? Just curious.
