Hello everyone,

I'm actively searching for my first Commander. Looks like I have it narrowed down to a Limited, 5.7L. I'd like to do a small lift, bigger tires, roof basket and light bar...I will occasionally tow my racecar & trailer, about 6,000 pounds total. It will double as a semi-daily driver (but I have another car too).

I've been here reading for some time and I'm excited to get into the hobby.

Please keep your eyes open for anything that will work for me, I have money ready to purchase asap. I'm in the Charlotte, NC metro.

All the best,

John

Photo for attention...although, that's what I'm thinking of doing!

John,

Welcome to the game! Plenty of Commanders out there waiting for a new owner (kind of like pets!)

The XK is just as bad as a Wrangler :) you will happily burn your wallet on all the options out there, which was not the case in previous years.

I tow a 23' boat with mine with no issues at all, the Commander is very nice on the road with a load on it. The truck is 6500lbs if you get the 5.7l version with 4X4, so it behaves like a champ towing. We even have good re-gearing options now with a range from 3.07 to 4.10.

If you get crazy enough the 5.7l can be played with, some commanders have been know to brake into the 10/11s for speed...

Thanks Dave,

I'm no stranger to FCA products; I've been a product specialist and on track instructor for SRT for a decade. In fact, I was co-driver in the FCA factory entry for the 2012 Tire Rack One Lap of America; we won our class in a race prepped Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.

I mod EVERYTHING too; intakes, exhaust, suspensions...I'm excited by the options for the Commander.
