Hi all,

I am about to place an order for the Superlift (w/EGR) and have a couple final questions I was hoping to get some advice on to make sure I get it right. I have searched quite a bit through the forums, so if I missed something I apologize.

'06 5.7 Limited QDII 95K miles

1 - I am getting new shocks/struts/coilovers/whatever-you-want-to-call-them. Should I go with 4600 or 5100 on the front? I may eventually go with the modified lift so would prefer to just get the 5100 now, but am concerned the front will sit too high. Maybe I could just install a 3/4" spacer in the rear if needed (or whatever actual size it ends up needing)?
2 - I plan on going with 285/70/17 on 17x8.5 (+/- .5", depending on what is available in the style I choose) with ~4.5" backspacing. I've narrowed it down to a few wheel choices, but have read that some 17" wheels don't fit (i.e. like those from a Rubi). Is there any way to know ahead of time? I'll probably be ordering them online so trial and error won't really be an option.
3 - Based on what I read here, I think this backspacing should be good with little or no modifications, yeah?
4 - I'll be getting bushings and coil isolators and whatnot at the same time, and will wait until after it is all done to see if I need control arms to correct the rear pinion angle. Anything else I need to look into?

This is a DD right now and a good chunk of change, so just trying to ensure I have my bases covered before press go. Thanks in advance!

4.5" backspacing is gonna give you plenty of clearance for the front caliper. The rubi wheels just barely touch @ 6" backspacing. Just has to do with the difference in wheel design, and a tiny spacer gives plenty of clearance.

Basically any 17" aftermarket wheel is going to have enough room

I read on another forum that the Superlift was being discontinued. Someone said they had ordered it and they were trying to scrape together the parts to fill his order. Good luck.

Here is all the information on a modified superlift that you could need:

Recommended Additions:
New upper A-arms (RRO or JBA) that are specifically designed for lifted WK’s. As an added benefit they have larger ball-joints. This will help guard against premature failure of the ball-joint. Also, this is a good time to replace the lower control arms (that or just replace the ball-joints if you have a press).

Definitely should consider new upper arms. RRO is $100 cheaper IIRC.

LCA bushings and ball joints are for certain a good idea at this time as well. Wish I replaced all mine when I did my lift around the same mileage as you.

I would definitely go with the 5100's up front. With stock shocks mine looks raked forward like it did stock. I don't think the 1.5" would do more than level it out.

The lowest setting ".75" would probably be perfect IMHO. I like a slight rake.

Big fan of my bilsteins btw.

i have read a few threads were people had great success in fitting the rubicon or willy wheels without any spacers...


wonder why there is differences...

i couldnt imagine it just being a tolerance from specs issue.

I went ahead and ordered the 5100s with the kit. I figured the worst case scenario would be I have to put some small spacers in the rear.

The early years had smaller/different calipers.

Speaking of which OP has an '06 so they are fine.

The ride is unbelievable for a lifted vehicle. Mine actually rides better than before the lift, though I expect its only better because the shocks that were on the Jeep were shot when I got it and new ones went on with the lift. I'd never lifted a IFS vehicle before so I don't have a good comparison, but any other vehicle I lifted before ended up with a much stiffer ride, but not this time.

Thanks for getting back to me. Thats good to hear. I'm considering the superlift for mine but currently have 20 inch wheels on (the car came with them on). I'd like to aim for 32 to 33" tyres but am not sure if i want to use the 20's i have or go down the 17inch route. I'm sure the car will be better off road with 17's. Are you running with 17s?

Definitely go 17’s. More sidewall means greater ability to get flex when aired down. 20”s should be relegated to mall crawlers. Plus tires go up in price exponentially as the rim diameter increases. I’m running 33’s with my SL with zero issues.
