I have the 50x60 rack that only requires 2 cross members (width of the car) and I just added the spare tire bracket and put my stock spare up there. With in the week I will be putting a 285/70R17 tire so it will be heavier. Right now the center beam (length of the car) is bending down about 3/4 inch maybe. It is a pretty thin beam. So I am worried that it might break when i put the bigger tire on. Do others have this problem? or do most people that put spares up there have the 4 cross member rack? any easy ways to beaf it up?

Thanks.

I would add at least one more crossrail where the weight is. It will deffinately sag more with the bigger tires, they weigh a ton!

I added 2 cross rails for the added weight. I have since then removed all 4 and gone with a platform instead of a basket.
