I recently purchased a 2006 Jeep Commander, and the third row seats are a major blind spot for me. My latch has the original cap, and it has no tension at all. I am 99% sure it is the cable that is broken. I removed the cap, which is not broken, and even tried the penny trick to no avail. Is there a way to manually lower the seat?

I know this has been asked a million times, and I apologize in advance. I searched myself in circles, but everyone seems to fix this with the penny trick.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Thanks, @jeep5253! I am glad to be here.

I have a 2006 Jeep Commander Limited 4.7L 2WD. It has close to 250K miles on it. I got it a little over a month ago from someone that obviously did not take care of it and had some messy kids.

So far I have replaced the key fob, front blower motor, driver's door wiring harness, gas cap, rear hatch struts, all door handles, burnt low beam pigtails, and I am sure there will be more to do as I look around. I was able to get the driver's side third row seat down with no problem, but the passenger's side is being stubborn.

I am getting the P0300 code, even after replacing the ignition coils and spark plugs, so it will be going to the shop soon.

I am switching from a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.9L.
