Ok I need some advise. I have a 2007 Red Rock Commander sport. BASE MODEL. The only thing this truck has right now is factory installed DVD player. I don't even have leather seats, but it's FFV and that's the most important to me. I have a lot of mods to do to this truck but due to money it has to be one at a time. So with that being said my question to you guys is what would you say would be the best modificaton you have made to your truck so far. What should I start with? Below is a list of all the things I want to add. Let me know what you suggest to be done first and what could be added to my list that I have possibly left off. Any help, advice, suggestions, etc. is highly needed and greatly appreciated.

Base tube, steering wheel radio controls, chrome fascia, chrome side molding, chrome door entry guards, chrome fuel filler door, chrome tailgate handle, chrome bumper molding, chrome side roof rails, molded running boards, 3500lb hitch receiver......

I think you should go with, chrome grab handles, chrome side molding, and chrome fuel door first. I would do the outside mods first, then work your way in. Just my opinion.

If you have a subwoofer on your list, I'd suggest doing that first. You'll definitely get the most use out of that. Either that, or the hitch. You can do the visual mods after the functional ones are taken care of.

Start with fuzzy dice to hang from mirror.....then buy a Xk limited....just kidding

I am thinking of a mod between base tube and receiver hitch.......chrome facia!

If you go to LKQonline.com you can sometimes become a used leather steering wheel with the radio controls. I picked one up from them for about $50.

Good luck and welcome the forum

wow, great advice. Knew I should ask ya'll. Thinking of leaning more towards the functional mods guess it makes better sense when you point it out. Thanks anymore advice, let me know.

I agree with this post, I did all these and they are not expensive and anyone can install them.

If you are not going to tow, hold off on the hitch and go with some other options on your list. The hitch is a good invetment, but will you use it?

Here's how I see it... since you don't really have anything MAJOR on that list there, I'd start with something cosmetic (one of those chrome accents you're looking to add). This will make you FEEL better about your Commander since you'll be seeing the improvements every time you look at it. Once you feel good about how it looks, THEN start on the functional mods like the hitch receiver and such. Unless you're planning on doing any immediate towing, just hold off on that. :)

Welcome to the forum! I would start with whatever part of the Commander you're least happy with. If it's the seats then at $299 these 3 rows of leather seats are a steal,

You can also get a leather steering wheel with radio controls from these guys or you can do it yourself, here's a link to my mods thread,

Here's some good deals off ebay,
Pedal covers $35

Chrome door handle covers $44.99

Chrome grab handles $44.50

Chrome grille accent $59.99

I agree with the cheeper visual mods, they are easy to do and gratify at the same time. That is to say unless you have an immediate need for one of the functional mods (if you need to tow put a hitch on). Welcome and good luck.

Wow those leather seats are only $299 for ALL 3 rows....that's awesome....i may have to start there cause the lack of leather would have to be the most upsetting about my whole truck. I read your forum of all the upgrades you did to your truck and you did a GREAT job. Wanna come do all mine for me? haha kidding. I never thought about the steering controls until I seen your pictures on it and I'm not that good but my husband will be hopefully. That may be my second choice. As far as the chrome handles do you use them? I don't really like anything that sticks on with tape. My husband had those door handle covers on his truck and we replaced it about 3 times before we finally decided to get the real chrome door handle replacements. I haven't been able to find them for my truck. All I can seem to find it the covers. I don't know anyone else who uses them so i don't have anyone else to ask but if ya'll use them and they don't come off or cause any problems with anyone I might think about those. Anyway thanks for the advice and finding those seats. Everything I get will be off ebay, I buy and sell everything on there.

I haven't tried the chrome door handle covers but there are a few people on here that have. Don't think anyone makes replacement chrome handles yet, there's two different handle covers, one is polished stainless steel and the other is chromed plastic. There's a lot of Commander stuff in the stores section of ebay. I usually buy my parts from the auction section.

I have had them for almost one year, and yes they are the plastic ones ($69). I sold my fascia a while back for $75 and have seen them on eBay for a bit more.

Cool, maybe I'll try them out. I'll make them one of my last enhancements just incase after everything I feel like I don't need them then there will be no lose. I have a small willingness to experiment!

However, the hitch minimizes damage in case you get rear-ended.
