After a lot of hand wringing, I decided to go with Thule Cross Bars for my 08. Foot kit (#460) and the square bars. I am waiting for a Fit Kit to come in. This is needed to attach the Foot to the side rails. I like the look (square, like my Commander) and the weight rating is excellent. 150lbs plus. They will lock and I can fit the many different Thule and Yakima accessories for the toys.
I am going with a 58" crossbar which protrudes just a bit from the side rails. I want to go with a Fairing also to cut down on the wind noise.
While I wait for the part to come in, if anyone has experience good or bad with Thule cross bars on the Jeep then please share.
I use Thule on two other trailers, one cargo and one for a Kayak trailer and I use bars on a Honda also so I know they are great.
I will post some pics when the parts are in and I install them.

Ranger, appreciate the link but none of those vehicles have the actual Thule cross bars. Most are the standard Mopar cross bar and the Sport Utility Bar which is too thick for my accessories.

I have two cross bars and four towers in my shop but they are 64" which is a bit long for the Commander.

Thanks 49er but I have the bars and towers and I wait for the fit kit. Just wanted to know if anyone has installed the Thule Cross Bars and towers on the side rails.
The bars I am using are 58". I can go to 64 but I have no reason.

A done deal. Went with Thule 58" bars and a Fairing to cut wind noise.
The fun part was me installing it. I had shoulder surgery in Feb and do not have all of my right arm to use. Pretty to look it but not useful. I searched the directions but there was nothing in there for One Arm Installation...so I winged it....
It came out great though. As usual with Thule, things are easier than they first appear when you see the parts. It is well thought out and very solid. Not cheap.

Pics attached.

Those look nice, they are much taller the OEM cross bars but you should be able to attach almost anything to them.

No doubt on the height. Not a problem for me. All my fittings will fit. Kayak saddles, canoe stops, bicycle and box will fit. I took a ride with the Fairing and it works primo. The Comm. is normally quiet anyway but there is no road noise from the bars (which without a Fairing can be noisy) whatsoever. I am a long way from a Basket but someday...
I have small enclosed Cargo trailer by Campout for my camping stuff and that is racked also.
Oh yeah.....

And they said you couldn't take it with you....
