Sauceboy's story of the week:

I'm driving after work running some errands and stop at the post office. As I get into the car and start er up, a light pops up in the dash indicating the exclamation mark. I look it up in the manual and it says one or more tires may be lower than others. I go to the gas station and check all tires, fill the two that need a pound or more of air, hop back in, start and the light goes away! The more I discover about this XK the more I freaaaaaaaakin LOVE IT!! Can't wait till the snow hits :D Just got my tow straps in the mail :D

How much air are you running in your tires ? It should not indicate they are low if it's only one pound.

Oddly enough, this happened in my wife's MX5 GT not 2 nights ago. She was driving home, the light came on and freaked her out. She stopped, checked all the tires and all looked well.

She got home, I checked out the car, ended up that the tires had lost a pound below the threshold of the TPMS limit and set the light off. Aired back up to 29lbs and the light went out. Job done.

I've noticed the XK was a little low today, time to air them up too I think. The cold weather is coming in.

The suspension is so good in my Commander that I keep the poundage on the high side. I like all 5 to be at 34. The painful one is the spare, cuz its difficult to get the air hose nozzle on to the valve.

Lower the spare, turn it over so the nozzle faces down and raise it again. Manufacturers sticker on the door recommends 35 psi.

IF your spare is a matching aluminum wheel, mounting it face down will expose the clear coat to the debris (stones) thrown up by the rear wheels.
This chips the clear coat off and causes it to corrode.
Causes the ugly steel wheel to corrode too, but no one cares, LOL.

i go by the door sticker, 35 psi, when tires are cold. When i travel on the highway, it climbs to 38 or 39, depending on the season. You need to check the pressure when the weather gets cold, since cold air will contract and the tire pressure will drop.

Roger that - it's been cold in Boston recently, and it looks like we're in for a nice drop in temp over the weekend, however my mechanic owns a Jeep as well and he advises dropping to 30 lbs for the snow so the tires grab the snow easier. Do you guys do this at all or no??
