My 2007 3.0 CRD has recently started to suffer from delayed transmission engagement, usually when shifting up from 2nd to 3rd.
When a delayed transmission engagement happens, there is a soft clicking/tapping noise prior to the upshift actually occurring.
I have read somewhere that a faulty internal cooler return filter can cause this problem. Apparently, the solution is to check to see if the cooler return filters have the “AB” suffix. If they do, then replacement filters should be considered to resolve the problem.
Has any other member come across this problem and resolved it by replacing these filters? Also, where are these filters actually located, are they inside the transmission oil pan?
