I use my Uconnect all the time. I recently switched phones to a Droid Charge and have found something strange.

I used to be able to say "Call John Smith Mobile" and it would give me John's mobile number. Now if I say "Call John Smith Mobile" it gives me a listing similar to below...

1. John Smith
2. John Smith
3. John Smith

It asks me to pick a selection for John but I do not know which is his mobile vs his work or home. Is there a setting on either the phone or on Uconnect I can adjust to make it work the way it used to?

My phone is a Tmobile G2, also a droid. My contact list is always in this sequence: home, mobile, work. I have not hooked up my new generation uconnect yet. The old uconnect version in my Commander would not list my contact list on the radio display, but would ask me if I wanted call home or mobile, etc, if I had more than 1 listing for the same name. I would guess that the list you are seeing is a duplicate of the list from your contact list. I would think you could pick the appropriate number, but I can't confirm this until I hook up my new uconnect in my Nitro. It has been on back order for 2 months. :eek:rangehat:

I just installed a UConnect Bluetooth in my Commander, I'm NOT sure, but I think the Uconnect unit downloads you phone book from the phone and stores it. Could it be possible the duplicates come from downloading your old phone's phonebook and combining it with your new phone's phonebook?

There is an option to erase the phone book in the Uconnect, if I remember correctly. I'd try that, it will just download the phonebook from your new phone then.

BUT, it could be that swapping over contacts in your new phone caused it, have you looked through the contact list in your new phone and options for it?

The factory uconnect does not do this. You have to enter each number manually.

Factory UConnect could have more than one meaning?

Correct me if I'm wrong,

The OEM Radio that is the mygig radio, has a built in bluetooth in it. Is this what your refering to as the Factory UConnect?

The other radios have a Dealer Installed Option for a UConnect Bluetooth that works with their existing radio. I guess, that would NOT be a "Factory" Uconnect, although its a Chrysler Product designed to integrate seemlessly into your vehicle.

I have the Dealer Installed Option UConnect (although I installed it myself, and payed the dealer just to enable it with the proprietary tools). I have downloaded my phonebook from my phone using it. I have erased it and found later it "at least appeared" to download the phonebook on its own later.

So, I guess the question to the O.P. is, do you have the mygig radio or do you have the Dealer Installed Option Uconnect?

Thats assuming I'm right about the mygig radio and Uconnect, I might have that wrong.

Ah, so that has Uconnect built into the radio unit itself.

I may be thinking of other Chrysler Models that have the mygig radio, did the Commander ever come with mygig radios? And if they did, did they have the Uconnect as a standard feature?

At least for this thread, ACKACK what radio and Uconnect do you have?

My guess the problem is one of two possible.

  • The way your contacts transfered or are organized in your new phone, it might require you redoing the contacts or modifying them.
  • If you have the Dealer Installed Option Uconnect, it might be the downloaded phonebook stored in the unit. It can't hurt to go through the menu and delete the stored phone book and see what happens.

The controls and microphone are on the rear view mirror but it is integrated into the REC.

The single disc (Media Center 130) and 6-disc(Media Center 230) utilize a separate uconnect module. All three mygig units have the uconnect module incorporated into the radio, but it may not be activated! Go figure. So if you have a single disc or 6 disc, the module is the same whether from the factory or dealer installed. The only difference, the factory installed has the microphone in the rear view mirror and the dealer installed has a small microphone that you mount to the roof. I was unable to determine if I could hook up the factory mirror with the microphone, so I gave up! I finalled have the voice activated uconnect installed in my Nitro - did it myself, but I had to have the dealer starscan it so that it would work. I ordered the unit required for my radio (Media Center 130), but was sent an upgrade unit that voice activates the radio! Sweet. From what I am seeing, (I've only had it activated for a week), the unit does not actually download my contacts, recent calls, etc, but rather just "reads" the lists every time it hooks up. It does the same thing for my wife's phone. This is the part number I ordered:

Item Number UOM Qty Your Price
82211878 Each $257.00
uconnect Phone, Bluetooth wireless Hands-free phone kit. Hands-free calling and allows control of an, iPod through the Radio Controls. To utilize your iPod , a separate iPod harness (PN 82212000) must be ordered separately. Will not work on vehicles equipped with RES Radios w/o uconnect button.- see part number 82211755AB

Fits: Nitro

This is the part I received:

Item Number UOM Qty Your Price
82212159 Each $356.00
Hands-free calling is here! Uconnect phone is the exclusive voice-activated, hands-free, in-vehicle communications system. It encourages safe vehicle operation and doesn`t compromise driver control. Uconnect phone allows you to dial your wireless phone through simple voice commands. Uconnect phone includes Bluetooth technology that enables your wireless phone to connect to your vehicle without wires or a docking station. This leading-edge technology will allow you to store your wireless phone anywhere in the vehicle and still maintain connection

Fits: Nitro

The installation instructions are the same for both. I have the uconnect and voice buttons on my radio. The one I received lists for $99.00 more than the one I ordered, and by the description, mentions voice activated. Other than that, I do not know what the differences are. This system is totally different than the one I had in the Commander. I do not have to "build" a contact list, or phone book. As I mentioned above, it seems to read the phone, no matter which one is set to priority 1.

From what I understand is the mygig will read all your contact info off your phone. If your phone has #s on the sim and memory card it will read them both it will not know that they are duplicate.
