Dear Community Members,

We are excited to announce that we are live on our new forum platform! We’ve worked hard over the past few months with a leading design and product firm to deliver a cleaner, faster and more engaging experience for you. Our goal is to provide modern design and technology to make the site run faster, smoother and more reliably. All of the valuable content within the community is still here, even though the layout may look different.

A Consistent Experience Across All Devices
The site is optimized for all screen sizes, including mobile. All features are available and ready to use on all devices.

Speed and Reliability Are Key
No one should have to wait for information. This site has been built to be much faster and more reliable, period.

New Homepage Experience
Your home page now features the most active forums, trending discussions, featured showcases, and top contributing members. This will help keep you up to date on what’s happening in your community and eventually become a very personalized experience for our members with all the great content you love surfaced effortlessly for you.

Search
We have introduced new search algorithms, powered by an industry-leading AI platform, that will help you find information faster. We plan to roll out new features to continue improving search, and to power many additional areas of the forum.

Due to the volume of content, our search platform may take some time to complete indexing. During this process, you may see a limited number of posts until indexing has been completed. We appreciate your patience.

Easy to Use and Navigate
We have made the design clean and simple to use. Near the upper right-hand corner of the community, you will see navigation icons.

The first icon is for what’s new on the site.

Clicking on it, by default, will take you to new unread posts. On that page, you can click on additional tabs as well, such as Popular, if you prefer to view active topics.

Clicking the list icon next to “NEW” will bring you to the full forum listing.

You can also navigate by clicking the 3 vertical dots.

Clicking on your avatar will give you a drop-down menu for all things related to your account.

Dark Mode
We have introduced Dark Mode. One of our favorite features allows you to access the site with a power-saving, and easier on the eyes dark mode. You can access it in the drop-down menu under the 3 vertical dots.

Bookmarks
Now you can bookmark your favorite discussions! Bookmarks are a handy way to remember and easily find great content or stuff you want to read later.

We also wanted to make it easier for new users to understand the lingo of forums. We have cleaned up various language to more commonly recognized phrases including:
  • Following - Thread subscriptions, and Watched are now known as Following
  • Conversations – Private Messages or PMs are now conversations and can be accessed from the user avatar drop-down in the main navigation
  • Showcase – Showcase is designed for users to "showcase" items/projects through the use of uploaded images, text descriptions and custom content categories. It’s a way to visually and textually provide detailed information on the content you wish to share. The showcase would be similar to a catalog, whereas the gallery would be like a photo album. It can be accessed from the drop-down menu with the 3 dots.
These are just a few of the great new functions and features to try on the site. Take a tour and look around! If you have any questions, please check out the HELP section for some quick FAQs about the new platform, Help Section

Please let us know what you think about the new experience, your feedback is important to us.

Thank you all for your support during this amazing journey!

Hello!
I will be here today as we begin to unpack from the move to this new software update. You may have a lot of questions or comments, or may need help orienting yourself to some of the things that look different around here. I hope I can help with that orienteering, and I hope I can help you feel comfortable navigating around.

My name is Gerrit, and helping people orient themselves as long as I can remember. I was born in Europe, raised throughout parts of the US, and now am in Canada with the Vertical Scope H
Q. Orienteering has been something I’ve done for most of my life, and was both the first merit badge earned, and the first one I taught within the Boy Scouts (yes I did that whole thing too). Quickly and accurately finding my way around is such a cornerstone of my life that my first tattoo naturally had to be a compass to help me navigate. (Though I did leave it up to the artist to make it less basic that something that looked like it’d need some sort of seasonal coffee drink) and it is all of these skills that I hope to bring here to you now.

Orienteering is never an easy skill, but with me as your guide through the site I hope that we can explore this brave new look for the site together. I won’t always have an immediate answer to your question, but I will work to find you the most accurate information together.

Please don't be afraid to explore and test out things to see how they work on the site. You can also see our FAQs here!

Although you can certainly use the "insert image" icon to upload an image to your post, you can also just drag and drop it to the text editor or even copy/paste it into there!

You can easily share videos just by adding the URL directly into the text editor!

Gif links from sites like giphy.com will display automatically just by adding the gif URL directly in the text editor. Try it!

I am also a huge fan of the dark mode for the community, it’s much easier on the eyes. What is your favorite feature?

I will be here to answer questions and to help you navigate, as needed.

Just noted a strange thing with the new software. Looking at an old post
The picture attachments "mainly noticed mine" are messed up. On my picture attachments there are more pictures from other posts that come up when I look at the pictures by using the next arrows it pulls up my pictures as well as pictures from other posts in the same thread. Not a biggie but something wrong? Hope I explained it right. Look at post #23 and it shows 2 pictures, single click on a picture it brings up 6 pictures. On each of the 6 it shows the author- some mine some others??

@Administrator; There are definitely going to be some adjustments; I just spent an hour remaking my avatar so it would fit in the new avatar windows - only about half of my original avatar was showing, so, I had to make it smaller and more compressed for it to fit in & display properly;

I also noticed that everyone's profile information - make, model of your Commander, trim package, mileage etc. has been wiped out from underneath everyone's avatar - I truly hope that eveyone's profile information can be restored, otherwise alot of hard work was all for nothing.

I also notice we went from one Moderator to 3 now? Is that accurate?

Also the garage images that use to be displayed along the top of the forum are missing.....a little help - or are they gone forever?

Also @Administrator; is the Private Message feature gone? I don't see it anywhere....

Oh that's the Carousel functionality, any image attached as a thumbnail (and not imbedded in a post) will show up in this section. This is an embedded feature of the base software we are built off of. Let me know if I need to clarify further. :)

Apologies for the adjustment time, if you need to redo the avatar in the future, try adjusting its positioning within the upload pop up before making large efforts in resizing things. :)
Vehicle information is a feature we're currently bug testing and working towards rolling out, though I personally am not certain of the ETA on this. Keep an eye on release notes, though I am sure we will announce that when it goes live as well.
We have not increased or decreased the staff during the transition, perhaps some are more/less active with the move.
The garage is now called the Showcase, and I can walk through that functionality with you if you would like.
Private Messages are now called Conversations, and if would like to know how they work I can help too.

A few words got changed in the move, which is why a new User's Dictionary is the first section of our FAQ :)

I checked in my profile under "About" and all that profile info is there - just not under the avatar.

Yeah, I saw that. That will make things significantly more difficult for me, until they roll the Commander-related profile information back out again - I'm praying sooner rather than later.

Gerrit;

O.K. & thank you. I stumbled across the Conversation tab already; No worries now that I know that's the new PM option. I'm much more concerned about the Commander related user profile information that's not readily visible under the member's avatars anymore; That will make things significantly more difficult for me, until the Commander-related profile information is rolled back out again.

I'm praying sooner rather than later. Also, do we not have a "Members List" tab anymore? I can't seem to find one in this new software anywhere.

One other thing; Garages are now called Show cases I see? However the new software seems to have jacked-up the layout of the text within the showcases, for those of us that typed out a lot of detailed description & information. Is there anyway to clean that up?

I uploaded a screenshot below that gives you a little bit of an idea of what I'm talking about.

This is a priority for us as well, but we always aim to roll out features when they are ready to go, would hate to pop something out to only have it make more bugs, so until a point that all bugs are resolved, we will keep on the development of this. I too hope this resolves quickly.

On the forum listing page or on any forum sections, you will see a Top Contributors box in the sidebar. Click on View All.

This will bring you to the Members page with options in the left sidebar, including who is online.

You can also search to find a member.

A lot of this formatting shifting has to do with the way the old Garage stored its information against how the new showcase is established. I know a lot of work was put in to these features, but this is one of the few bumps we could not clear in the moving of the Garage feature. This is that bump, and unfortunately there is no change we can throw together that will resolve the formatting for everyone, and for that I do apologize.

O.K. Thanks for the information Gerrit.

Also @Administrator; Is it possible to get the forum set up like it was - where New Members can only post in the New Member Section until they reach 5 posts?

Thank you for the explanations. The new layout and new features will definitely take some getting use to. One question I have is can the threads be made to read from the newest reply down to the oldest? The old layout had an option for you to switch which way the thread was read.

I was wondering why my recent posts did not show up in the "New" list - Found out the "Filter" button on the top left has options and the one "Unread discussions " was checked - unchecked it and now see all my posts. I vote that should be the default filter setting.
