I went to local shop to have bug deflector, window vents, and nerf bars installed on my recently purchased 2006 Commander.

The owner told me that the Westin Nerf bar would not work because "someone had removed my rear air conditioner" and the nerf bar must attach to the rear air conditioner bracket.

I told him my Commander did not have rear air conditioner and he said all Commanders do. (The owner's manual says "if equipped", so I am assuming it is an option, not standard)

Does anyone know of a manufacturer for polished stainless nerf bars that will work on my Commander without rear air?

Thanks!

When I was in Viet Nam we would send new guys down to the flight line to get a bucket of prop wash to use for cleaning parts. I think that this guy is pulling the same kind of scam on you. The nerf bars mount under the sides to the unibody seam and have nothing to do with the air conditioner. We all have ductwork and fans that send the air conditioned air to the rear compartment, but they are located in the side panels. I also do have nerf bars that mounted with no trouble.

I also forgot to say "Welcome to the forum" We all appreciate EMS guys.

I did notice on several websites(including Westin) that the Commander Nerf Bars have (with rear air) next to the item description. I would think that if you don't have rear air the shop should be able to have a bracket fabricated that should work. Anyone else have this experience?

Would like to see what they are mounting too as I mounted to the frame rail (if you want to call it that) and I am sure it would not matter if I had air or not (I do).
