I have a 2006 4.7L V8 4X4 Commander and I want to put a 2" lift on. I heard Daystar is a good one. Also when I put the lift on do I need to put the 1 1/2 spacers on the wheels also. If so will I have to do any grinding work on the fenders?

It all depends on what your going to be doing with the vehicle and what size tires you plan on running. If you can provide us with a little more information we can give you a better answer.

When I first lifted my XK I went with 255/70R17 Brisdgestone Dueler REVO's and didnt need wheel spacers and didnt rub at all so no trimming was necessary. But then when I upgraded to the 265/70R17 MT/R's I needed wheel spacers to clear the ball joints and also had to bend over the pinch weld and re mold the inner plastic fender weld.

I currently have 255/65R17 on it. Right now I use the Jeep to for moderate 4X4 roads. But I would like it to look level.

i have a 2006 4.7L also and i just recently put the Rough country 2" and 1.5" wheels spacers on mine....i have only had it a copule days but i love it...i do about 90% on-road and 10% offroad and i find this lift is perfect...i havent upsized my tires yet but the RC lift is a definate Yes in my books i have pics in my profile

It seems that nobody has really been dissapointed by any of the 2" lifts. They are all similar and produce roughly the same results. The only worries I have heard are with poly spacers failing. BDS and rough country use all steel spacers so no problem there. I have the rough country and have been pleased so far. If you plan on keeping your tires you won't need wheel spacers, if you plan on going bigger you might. There is a good thread on tire sizes that will fit with what lifts etc.. Use the search feature and youre sure to find it.

I am pleased with my RC 2" lift. Looks more like a Jeep should, but still rides well. My only surprise with this kit was that it lifted the vehicle a little more than 2" (I had mocked up exactly 2" of lift with jacks beforehand to see how it would look, so the real results seemed like more than I bargained for (certain death from the wife)).

But after an alignment and a few bumpy roads, everything settled into place. I am alive and the Jeep looks good. Hope that helps.

I went with the RC lift because the price was a little lower than the BDS. I think the BDS kit was going for just under $250 retail and the RC was around $160(not sure of the quality comparison between them)- bought my 2" from Rough Country through eBay for about $150. I have been driving with it for 2,800 miles- great so far.

So far I've been very pleased with my Daystar lift. It's only been a month or so and I've put a little over 1,000 miles on it but have had no issues what's so ever. While I was lifting I put 1.5" spacers on as well, mostly to help make room for some 265's if I decide to go that route. I also couldn't figure out which wheel to go with yet so that gave it a little more aggressive appearance until I get new wheels.

That's such a general question. Everyone has their own opinions, likes, and dislikes. We all chose one or the other for various reasons. Price, availability , shipping costs , the list goes on and on. The main thing I see is that everyone seems to be happy with their lift, regardless of the brand. I'm sure there have been problems and parts failures, I just haven't seen or heard of any personally.

Want to put a lift on my Jeep, No idea what I am doing!

Hello all,

I am new to this, I have got a 2007 Jeep commander, limited 4x4 and I think it sits to low. I want to put a 2 to 2.5 inch lift on it but I have no idea what brand or where to get it from etc. I am looking to spend around $500 on the lift in total. If you guys could help me I would much appreciate it any suggestions of what i should do. I want to put all terrain tires on as well and would love some suggestions for that also. What do you think would be the perfect fit for my jeep?

I would highly recommend getting a spacer lift that uses metal spacers front and rear. The poly rear spacers that some kits provide fail after a while. I have the BDS spacer lift and absolutely love it. I have had no issues with the lift what so ever. I hear the RC spacer lift is another good one. You should be able to purchase either of those lifts for $250 or less.
