I am looking into replacing the Fusion tires on my Jeep.. I'm not looking for anything with deep tread, just a good all around quite tire on the highway that is also good in the snow..

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor.

I used to have them and was very happy with them. They will serve you well in Maine. They are an All Terrain tread. IMO a good All Season tire is the Goodyear Assurance.

Ditto, I live in the mountains, go wheeling, and drive all over the country to balloon rally's. Good Year Silent Armor 265/70/17 I believe. NOT CHEAP (cost or quality).

There are lots of good highway tires. You might want to read some reviews on TireRack.com or DiscountTire.com. I'm not sure how much feedback you'll get on this site concerning those kinds of tires. Most members here are enthusiasts who like to use their Jeeps for offroading. Maybe someone who just tows a boat or trailer may have an opinion on what you're looking for. But don't be discouraged from asking questions.

The Forteras come stock on the XK and are a decent on-road tire. I mentioned the Assurance because I had them on an old Subaru Outback, and they did very well on both wet and snowy/icy roads. They are pricey, though. You get what you pay for.

Ya, I don't go off roading at all with my commander.. I have an ATV for that purpose.. I'll have a look at my local tire place to see the tread on different tires up close.. Thanks for all the input..

The Goodyear SA Do look aggressive but sound pretty quiet. I was shocked. I mean, you know they are there but infinitely quieter that I expected.

Right. ...and they are snowflake rated for those nasty Maine winters!

Howling tires can get old pretty quickly for most folks. I guess Goodyear realized this and took steps to quiet the tires you refer to. But for me, I'll take howling tires over the radio anyday.

duratracs to bfg rugged terrains

i had duratracs on mine. loved them at first. when they got worn down about half way, they started to make my whole dash sound like a bee hive on fire (45 mph on blacktop the worst; 65 on hwy they were ok, but still humming)...finally could not take it anymore and went back to discount and was convinced on traded them in for some bfg rugged terrains, not as mean looking, but unbelievably quieter and told they "should" stay that way. posted two pics with them on. actually look pretty good....imo.

here is a look at one from a link, http://www.propickupmag.com/bfgoodrich-rugged-terrain-review/

I was really disappointed in my nitto terra grapplers. Traction and grip was great but noisier than I expected and they wore extremely fast. Much faster than they claim. I've had them for maybe 10k miles and they're pretty much ready to be trashed in about another 5k. I probably won't do terra grapplers again. I recommended above pirellis and I think im gonna go that route. Much quieter and they're aggressive enough for what I'd need them for.

Well I decided to try the Silent Armor's because my buddy bought my Fortera's from me for what I paid for them because were I bought them ran out and the new order was going to be $30 a tire more.. I put the Armor's on and I like them alot.. Little to no noise, handle well on the highway.. Can't wait to see what they do in the snow..
