My wife and I are looking at the Commander as she has been wanting one for a year.

We found a 07 used Limited with every possiable option (Navi, camera, dvd, 5.7, etc) with 7k on the clock. We are not going to buy this one because it is White, but the dealer says he can get the same Commander in the color the wife wants.

They are asking around $32k which I think is reasonable.

What would you guys expect to pay?

I bought a brand new one and DONT have the DVD player and with all discounts and all paid about 38,500 so I would say you have a fine deal. Just find out WHY someone traded in one with such low mileage, unless its a Demo, as I cant imagin why someone would want to. john

You know when I test drove our commander, we really wanted the blue one on the lot. However the a/c did not work good enough for TX heat, and it was brand new. I have also driven a ranger with 5k on it that had no power. You never know why a vehicle has such low miles on it til you drive it a while.

Point: definitely find out why it was traded in so quickly.

I've been looking for six months for a deal on an Overland, green, w/DVD for the kids but would not do it with a 3 year/36k warranty (I easily do 30k a year). The new warranty for life did the trick for me and I found a demo with a little less than 3k on it and got it for $35,500.00 two nights ago. Window sticker was $46500.00+-, less $4500 in rebates and another $5500 in haggling got me down to that price. I'll do close to 100k the next three years and not having to worry about drive train repairs made the difference for me.

We got ours for $28k. Same as yours, except no nav or dvd. It had 5800 miles. CarMax had one for the same price.

I traded in my first 4.7 06 limited 3 months after I bought it when the 2wd limited became available with the Hemi and Chrsyler had the 0% for 60. Obviosly I took a bath in inequity, but my payment and term decreased because I saved more money in finance charges. It had 2700 miles on it.

We didnt need a 4wd this go-round and the Hemi was only available in the 4x4 when we bought the first one. And having worked at a Jeep dealership at the time, its nearly impossible to drive in somehting when all you want to do is take it home for yourself.

32K sounds reasonable, compared to what current owners paid for theirs. However, with the resale numbers being much, much lower, this is just an average asking price. For 32K, if youre financing most of the vehicle, you may want to compare that price to what you'd be paying with Chryslers current incentives on a new one. And their new warranty is a pretty good reason to go new as well.

Thing is Chrysler made a lot of Commanders and Grand Cherokees this last year and pretty much forced them on dealer lots so its a buyers market and theres deals to be had in new or used. These things are flooding the Auctions and selling well below retail.

Personally Id be more motivated to buy if it were in the 27-28 + Tax/lic/title

Good luck.

Sounds like a good deal. Demos usually are because buyers assume that people have just been beating on it which isnt always the fact. It is a used vehicle that has been kept clean and in good repair by the dealer. Just make sure they do a good once over before purchase. My commander was the sales mgr's vehicle for 4,686 mi before he traded it in. -Used price for a new XK. You may be able to talk it down a little-use the price of gas as leverage... go for it.
