I am in the market for new tires for my XK but am not sure which of the following will fit. I have a stock suspension and stock wheels. I do not plan on lifting it so anything that requires a lift is out. I really want BFG becasue of prior experiences and love the look of the tire. I would like to go with the BFG All terrains but they only come in two sizes and am unsure if either will fit. The first is 225/70/17 and the other is the 245/70/17. I looked up the specs on Tire Rack for the stock Goodyear Forteras and it says they are 29.5" talland 9.8" wide. The 225/70/17 are 29.6" tall and 9" wide. The 245's however are 31.6" tall and 9.8" wide. The last option which I think is out no matter what is the BFG Mud terrain KM2 in 245/70/17. The specs are 31.7" tall and 9.8" wide. Any ideas or suggestions???

Between the two, I would go with the 245/70/17's. You can run them with stock suspension and wheels. I think the 225's would be too narrow.

Thats the one I would prefer I just dont want to have worry about rubbing once their on and then have to do a lift. eventually these wheels and tires will become winter wheels and either 22" or 24" will come for summer.

Will the 245/70R17s fit in the spare tire location if you have a type IV trailer hitch?
I don't think you'll have any rubbing.

I'm not sure about the tire fitting in the spare tire location. You'll just have to try it. You might have to reduce how much air you put in the spare and carry a 12volt inflator. Hopefully someone will know for sure.

I am not worried about the spare tire since I currently have a compressor with a 15 gallon tank. Right now it is being used for the train air horns installed but I have added a quick release connector fon one of the valves so I can use it to power air tools and infalte anything I may need.

how is the traction on wet roads? Im sure you dont see snow so you couldnt provide info on that. Also how is thw wear on them. I have had these on other vehicles but since this is mostly my wifes vehicle i want to make sure they will be good all year tires. We get decent amount of ice and snow in Chicago land and dont want to spend the money on something if its not worth it.

For all season use, I would recommend the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor like I have (but in the 245/70/17 size). They are very good in snow and ice as well as rain and dry pavement.

Actually the 245/70/17 would only be 30.5" not 31.7" . 31.7" are a 265/70/17. So with the 245 you'll have no problems.

i know im like 6 months late to answering this but we just had a foot of snow last week and the traction was great, i was very pleased with the perfomance of the tire and the vehicle all around, great in all terrains!
