Will 2020 Jeep Gladiator Wheels work?

9585 Views 29 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Big Blue
I am seeing ridiculously cheap deals on almost new Jeep Gladiator tires/rims near me - tires are usually Dueler 245/75/17. I have asked about fitment in various forums and am getting conflicting answers. I've been told by some that "Gladiator rims won't fit anything but a Gladiator". That just doesn't seem right. (??) I would be putting these on my 2006 Commander. Assuming they fit, I'm thinking I'll need a 1.5" spacer. I have very little knowledge when it comes to sensors though...would hope to use the new ones as my valves/sensors are either leaking or corroded. Anyone know about sensor compatibility? I am really hoping to hear from someone that has made this exact swap, but would love to hear from the experts (I've heard from the guessers) :) Thanks.

@RandyLHall Welcome to the forum! It looks like the Gladiator wheels have the same lug pattern as the Commander, so they will go on. However, the stud size is different and I don't know how much that affects the compatibility.

Sorry I can’t help, but I would like to know the answer as well. I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing.

I have JL wheels on mine. Same deal. If you do the math 14mm is .55in and the 1.5 means 17 threads per in. 1/2 x 20 is .5in and 20 threads per in.

You will have yo use your stock lugnuts. Which are different than than the newer ones. I havent had any issues with tightness or anything else in 7.5k miles.

I sure hope the do fit as I just drove an hr to get these $75 for all 4!
Mine are nice design too but they got pitted from failing clear coat which I scrubbed them with paint stripper on the truck..but still gotta take off and mount tires ,Soo I figured I'd get another set of rims ,do the spacer and level and new rubber then fix /paint my 08 stock rims etc. Sensors are bad on my 3.7 already replaced one with just a valve stem..gonna do the #10 fuse pull or whatever..I bet the sensors won't fit anyway on the gladrims..
Thinking of just a 265/70/17 seems low budget enuff..still..I was happy to grab these 2020 gladiator rims..crossing 🤞. If anything at least I will have the stock rims off and can finish stripping etc. Have a seasonal pair..idk.
Too lazy to jack up the car 4 times..don't even have a real jack haha..yet!

I just put on a set of JL wheels same size as the JT wheels, also got a good deal on these as they were a set of 5 new take offs for only $125. I painted them to match my Raptor liner flares, lower door panels and bumpers (dark bronze) and roof rack (pewter). I like the look of these wheels compared to the chrome wheels my XK came with. When I had the tires mounted they put the original sensors on the new wheels, they said the newer sensors that came with the wheels may not work.

I'd like to see a pic of your rig. Bronze? There's a color I didn't consider yet.
I was gonna plasti dip these ,they're not flashy which I may not paint
I've been tryin to find on here or anywhere the lower door panel rocker accessory trim ,not in chrome.
I saw a6 piece kit, in chrome.i was just thinking tape off and plasti dip to try .
Somewhere I read someone plasti dipped then did the bedliner over..I could be wrong. I go down some deep rabbit holes on these questions.

I painted the lower sections of my XK with Upol Raptor Liner in pewter but the color came out with not enough contrast to the rest of the body in light khaki. So I repainted those sections with Rust-oleum Dark Bronze hammered finish. Because of the rough texture of the Raptor Liner I was able to paint the bronze hammer paint on with a brush as this paint naturally smooths itself out without showing brush marks.

I also painted the middle section of the front bumper black to give the front bumper the same bronze and black look as the back bumper.

I got 2020 gladiator 17s to fit on my 3.7 sport

Didn't happen
I'm using same tire 245/65/17
Shop is saying won't work without spacers?
They went to advance and got a spacer off the shelf. And the manager pissed as they did all 4 tires on the new rims and then the spacers won't fit.
What's wrong? Dang it. Paid 75.00 for these rims. Really thought I did my homework.

I understand that the brake caliper or the bolt on the upper control arm may rub without wheel spacers on these wheels, but I already had 1.5" wheels spacers on my XK for ride stability so there was no problem mounting these wheels. Sorry that I didn't mention that wheel spacers would be needed. I just thought you would have seen it mentioned on other posts here on the subject of putting other jeep wheels on the XK. Get the proper fitting wheel spacers and you should be good I think 1" to 1.5" would be fine, for fitting inside the fender flares I think 1.25" is best.

I think you will like having the extra stability with the wheel spacers, where I really notice the difference is on curves when the road surface is rough.

The tire Depot guy went with the thinnest spacer from advance. They were only supposed to do 1 wheel and his guys did all 4 which caused a back up in his schedule. They said somethi g was rubbing, alot of cursing and he said I'm sorry not gonna work and I hate using spacers .
He yelled at his guys to fix the mistake and I didnt get an answer .
I bought my spacers from Amazon brand is Preeminent 1.5" for Jeep. They are made from the same quality of materials as much higher cost brands such as Spidertrax and I got them within 2 days cost is $105 for set of 4. They are extremely well packaged and have very clear instructions for installation. I have checked the torque on them multiple times and they have always remained tight no backing off.
Thx for the info.
So with spacers, on the hubs.
I read somewhere about the stud length being too short/long?
I see a lot are running spacers. I see also this adds stability?
Ug .I thought I was getting such a deal..the rims looked great ,I even thought hmm might not even paint black..ug. thx for the feedback fshnbob
I am going to use Gladiator wheels with 1" spacers. I replaced the wheels studs in the hubs with studs that are about 3/4" longer to make it work. Make sure you use hubcentric spacers or you will likely have vibration.

The stud length on my Jeep was fine didn't need to cut to fit inside the spacer holes of 1.5" spacers smaller spacers then might need to cut the studs though. The stability on curves with bumps is vastly improved that extra 3 inches of width really is noticeable. I used to have a classic Bronco and back then I had to use wheel offset in custom wheels and much more $$$ to get the ride stability that wheel spacers give. I loved my old Bronco and after taking a test drive in a Commander it reminded me so much of the way it handled but could seat up to 7, that I was sold on the Commander. I painted it 2 tone to break up the boxy monochrome look and I think it makes it look smaller and less like a "Tank".
