i'm trying to decide on a winch brand for the winch bumper i'm building.

i'm going to get something with a rating between 9000 and 9500 lbs rating. it needs to have at least 100 feet of rope.

i'm not sure on the brand i want to use.

does anyone have any experience with any of the winch brands?

i've used warn a few times. they seem fine. i have also used a ramsey as well. i didn't like it very much.

I cannot decide between these brands:

warn- expensive, pretty good brand

t-max- new Australian brand winch, its supposed to be really good.

super winch- i'm not sure. supposed to be as good as warn except a little cheaper.

this is where I've been looking:

what are your opinions

i've been looking at the specs on the winches. they are all pretty much the same.

they all have the same mount pattern, 10"x4.5".

they have similar hp, line speeds and stuff.

okay well, after comparing everything. i'm going with the t-max 10000 lbs unit.

its $800 with free shipping.

heres the specs

it has the same mounting pattern as a warn winch so you guys can choose whatever you want to use. it will fit between the frame rails and so will all the other ones out there.

If you're planning on needing a winch and actually using it:
WARN
In 25 years, that's the only brand I have ever owned or used.
The best I've ever owned is the 9500si.
I've seen Ramseys break in half under full load.

I second WARN. The key isnt when the winch is NEW but when its a few years old. WARNS wear extremely well, the other brands dont. Plus, WARN gives outstanding customer service. john

well, i went with the t-max. i could not find anything bad about the winch brand. they have been used in aust. for many years, many rockcrawlers like them. i have not seen one that has complained about them. they come with a 1 year warranty.
