My oil filter search at auto parts store comes up with a large canister oil filter but mine is smaller (about 3” not 4+”) Commander was born in Canada
Does anyone know the correct pn?

I use a NAPA Gold 1085 made by WIX. If it had a small filter it was probably put on at one of those quick change places as they use cheap and small filters that fit many engines.

Same here.

The diameter of the rubber seal on the filters is the same. Obviously larger capacity can is better. Although ill say it is pretty tight to the drip tray, and you will not get your hand around it. Get a good thin filter wrench tool.
This one is my new favorite...

@Stircrayzy, that link doesn't go to the wrench. Could you please fix it? Thanks.

Is there room in there for a cap wrench? I have never been able to get my filter off and have resorted to having a shop do it. But I would like to do it myself.

The cap wrench fits great, need a little maneuvering to wiggle in there but it is easy. Use on a 3/8" extension about 6" or better. Been doing it over 20 times. The cap wrench is just a standard one not thin wall or anything.

It still works when i click in the post. I tried to re-copy it here again. Not sure what else i can do.
Part # at Advance Auto is W173C.
It fits EVERY oil filter, but takes a little effort to get it wrapped around to get started. 1/2" drive, and definately helps to use a wobble extension or a pivoting adapter.
