Hi Guys! Brand new Jeep Commander owner. I know I'm gonna need parts but here are a few things I need right now.

I need a grille, front bumper cover, and rear bumper cover. Hoping to get black. I have a hitch on mine. I have parking sensors on mine but I can turn that feature off if I need to.

Also I'm looking for this part in the pic. Don't know what it's called. The chrome is separating from it. I thought maybe about going to a decal shop to have a new material shrink wrapped on it. Does anyone know the name of this part?

Let me know if anyone has any of this for sale. Thank you!

Thanks! Glad to know what it is called. NOT glad to see that ridiculous price!
@tedh1979; That's just a drop in the bucket my friend, start getting used to it.

They've actually dropped in price a bit over the last couple of years. I would grab one why they are still around. Commander parts - particularly new Commander parts, are getting harder & harder to come by.

I'm quickly learning this. I located a black Commander that has all the parts, but I'm not sure if the rear bumper supports the park assist. It's a 200 mile one way trip or else I could do shipping. Before I dump a ton into it, I have a few things to figure out.

I bought it Thursday evening at an auction. It was listed as a 4.7L and was listed as the hood not being able to be opened. So everyone stayed away from it. I noticed the 5.7L HEMI badge on it. So, I drove it down the strip and it seemed to run and shift well. Now it's home and I got the hood opened. The dipstick registers no oil but the dipstick is all twisted and may not be accurate. But, I smell oil burning and at night, with the headlights on, I see minor foggy smoke. So it's parked for now and on Tuesday morning I'm going to change the oil and I'll find out exactly how much oil is really in it.

The rear bumper cover has a crack and the front bumper cover has a crack. The grille has a part of it broken from someone trying to open the hood, and the tailgate handle's chrome is wrinkled up but it works. No engine lights are on but it seems to kind of vibrate from 20mph to 50mph only when my foot is on the accelerator. I've never owned a Jeep before and it could be a simple issue like tires, or maybe the exhaust note is vibrating on the frame, but it could be the Quadra Drive II system.

So, I only spent $1000 on it and it runs good for the most part. Idles well. Seems to shift well. Looks nice except for the bumpers and the spot on the grille and handle. Inside is nice too. But I want to figure out the mechanical issues before dumping a ton into body replacement parts. I also at the same time have found a black one and don't want to lose out on the parts.

Thank you for all the links! Yes I took a risk. I always do. I win some and lose some on vehicles, but if I lose on a vehicle and sell it as is, I still make a slight profit. But I really like this Commander and want to restore it back to being good both mechanically and cosmetically.

Thank you so much again for all the links!

Well I changed the oil which was a 4 hour job! Some jerk put the oil lug nut on so tight that it wouldn't budge, plus the bolt was half stripped already. As I attempted to remove it, the bolt kept twisting and rounding off. Finally I got a pipe wrench, tool #20 it seemed, to finally break it free. New oil and filter and new oil bolt. I dumped the old oil in the jug. My oil dipstick always showed ZERO oil on the stick so I figured I had maybe 1 quart. I ended up having 5.5 qts of oil yet the stick showed none. Does that make sense? It still smells so I'm taking to my mechanic next week. I'm thinking valve cover gaskets as well. Fingers crossed that it's not too expensive as I just bought a BMW 328i and a BMW 745i two days ago which will swallow my wallet I'm sure. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!
