Has anybody treated their Commander with Xzilon? My wife just bought a new car and the dealer was trying to get her to get it applied to the vehicle. The sales pitch sounded almost to good to be true. Never have to wax, spray paint wipes off, etc. It can even be applied to the interior to protect it. Some quick web research this morning didn't lead me in one direction or another. The down side I see is that to take advantage of the warranty everything has to be done at the dealer.

I work at a luxury dealership (not jeep) and we use a similar product called Quantem. Its mostly a sales pitch as the profit is unreal on the product and the salespeople are well paid for selling it.

With that being said the stuff does actually work well, but needs reapplied often for the protectant warranty and function to last.



My opinion is save your money and buy some Zaino Brothers polish for the exterior and scotchguard the carpeting/upholstry.

My Jeep came with a similar product "Auto Butler" the problem is with my modifications they cannot do the service so it was wasted money

Modern day auto finishes dont need any kind of protection. Their chemical make-up does everything necessary to protect against the elements. We use DuPont system at work, but I have also used , and am certified for PPG finishing system. I've used BASF and Sikkens also. They all guarantee their finishes not to haze out or fade, guaranteed gloss retention and color brilliance retention, for the entire life span of the finish. A wax or " clear coat protectant " will do nothing to help this . A wax is good for other reasons . It will make it easier to clean road grime , tar , bugs , etc. A good wax job will help out on an older vehicle, maybe 2000 and older, as these vehicles had lesser quality finishes on them. As with everything else, paint systems have been improved dramatically over the years, especially in the past decade. They now have " self-healing clears " that will "melt" scratches away on their own. The water-borne systems that are coming on-line are impervious to oil based solvents. This means that you can use a mineral spirits or thinner to remove tar and spray paint without harming the clear. Most sales pitches at the dealer are just that, sales pitches.

I'd say that it's a waste of money. I did the same thing when I bought the XK. I was told that it would never have to be waxed. So it sounded like a great deal. Little did I know that they give you a kit do to it yourself every year after that. Like everyone else is saying, just wax it yourself...
