I have a jeep command 2008 hemi 5.7v, passed three weeks the I notice the jeep doesn't want to shift right! About 30mph it jerks hard and the rpm's stay high, like it stuck in 3rd gear. Sometimes the engine like will come on. I check the system and reads ok. Once I turn off jeep the rpm's are fine but after away it will start back up. Then over night the engine light will go off and jeep will run fine. Does anyone else have these problem? Could it be part of the recall they just sent out?

Jeep commander transmission problems, same issue

Gforman18 - I also have a 2008 HEMI limited that seems a little off. The past 4-5 days it has topped 100 degrees and it has acted up a little like yours. I am not sure if the guy that owned it before me has had the fluid and filter changed in 93,000 miles. I was going to handle that this weekend and see if it might help out. I will get back with you to see if that helps. It may just be that with the high temps, the trans is getting super hot and not shifting like normal. To be determined.

I should have said to check that too. Thnx jpicazio! To check your trans fluid properly, start the Commander, let it warm up and slowly run through the gears (P, R, N, D, N, R, P) a couple of times to get all the plates filled with fluid. Then check the level on the dip stick. Check the easy stuff first.

The recall is for 2005 - 2010 Grand Cherokees and Commanders equipped with QDII or QTII.
