Leaking rear sunroof drains

Hi,

I’ve had a very bad leak coming from my roof. I finally got around to dropping the headliner. I pressure washed the top and found that the leak is coming from my two rear drain hoses on the sunroof. I’ve tried probably 5 different ways to clear the lines with no luck. Does anyone know how to clear the old lines or where they may exit from? And if not how to install new ones? Thanks in advance

The best way to unclog a sun roof drain is to go to home depot and get yourself some weed whacker line. A single spool of this is dirt cheap, no more than $2 or $3 and you will have more than you will need. Feed the line down the drain tube, poking it and twisting it as you go and eventually you will clear why clog that you have. Verify that this is done by pouring water down the tube. If you see a puddle form under the car you've succeeded.

It's possible to remove and replace the rear drain tubes if you need to, but I advise against it as you need to remove just about every interior fascia trim to make this happen. The exit for this drain is hidden in a hollow area just in front of the wheel well and you will have one hell of a time just getting at it, and an even harder time attaching a new tube, so it's best saved for in case the tube has a crack in it somewhere, causing a leak.

Before you do anything , take clear tape and cover the seals of the sunroof for at least 3 good rain storms and wait until your floor is completely dry , if it’s not drying out don’t waste your time , it could be from window seals or water flow direction from door seals. If you fix the hose because it is filled with dirt and test it you will not know if the drain hose is broken because running water for 5 minutes is not enough
