Greeting everyone! I am a new member looking for a little help. My 08 Commander has 2 rubber pieces disintegrating near the bottom corners of the windshield. Does anyone know the names of these and if they are easily replaceable?
Thanks again,
Anthony

Welcome to the forum. Please read this and fill in some of your details and make a signature with your Commander details. (year, model trim, engine, 4wd system, etc.) It is nice for us know what your Commander has in it so we can better help you.

To make or modify a Signature click here - Signature - How to make or modify

To get the list of everything built into your Commander when built at the factory - have your VIN number (case sensitive) and go here Chrysler Build sheet - Equipment Listing Not necessarily for your signature but so you know what you have.

Also post an introduction in the "New Member" section. New Member Section

Those and the strip along the bottom of the windshield are molded together and part of the plastic cowl.
You'd have to replace the entire cowl, except no one in North America seems to have one and it doesn't look like any more will be made. You can try wreaking yards, but the ones I've seen are as bad or worse than mine. You may have better luck in your area. Right now, I'm in the middle of lots of home projects I need to get done before winter sets in. But winter project will be trying to restore my cowl, finding rubber close enough to work.
Big Blue did a very detailed report on cowl replacement, his pictures will give you an idea of how it's all put together.

Thanks for the link and quick reply ! I actually started off this morning with that exact post . I didn't know if the corner pieces could be replaced by themselves or just the whole cowl. I guess if I can't find anything i may just try to rig something up to cover the open holes.
Thanks again,
Anthony

Will do, hopefully one will show up somewhere. I just hate to buy a used one and know that in a couple of years I'll be in the same boat again.
Take care,
Anthony

Try using silicone spray on all rubber including windows thru out the car.it will give the rubber a new life!

once or twice a year or more if needed.

I've been doing this for the past couple of years. I needed to replace my drivers side door weather stripping a few years ago and I pulled one from a Commander at the Pull a Part lot. After swapping it, I figured it'd be good to clean it up and spray it w/ silicone spray. Probably twice a year I spray up all the weather stripping (doors, lift gate and rear glass) and also the rubber boots between the body and doors. A little extra effort will hopefully help things last longer!!
