Well I can definately point you to the ARB website which clearly indicates that at the moment the only OME suspension lift kit they have is for the WK Grand Cherokee. They dont even list the Commander for reasons stated earlier. Think of it this way. If you take the weights that were posted of both the XK and WK front end, one is heavier by a few hundred pounds. That would be equivalent to a custom front winch bumber. As we all know they make a heavy duty spring for front accessories. So besically they need two different spring rates for the two vehicles!

EDIT: I found the Thread!

I was informed today that a spring "lift Kit" will be available within 3 months.

Current testing has revealed a modification in spring rate for the Commander in addition to a modified shock vs the existing G.C. parts.

I for sure will install the new Kit when it comes out.:)

Regards,

ARB promises a lot but that does not mean they will follow through. They promised a new front bumber in 2007 and that never happened.

Well i realize that they promise things sometime and it doesnt come true. But at the same time as I was saying the application they have out now is for the WK and not the XK.

I emailed ARB tonight to find out more about this possible lift kit for the XK. I had other questions about my TJ as well, so hopefully they'll answer all of my questions and we'll go from here....I really want to put an OME kit on my commander in the next 3 months...so hopefully they'll confirm this is happening.

You guys are running in circles for no reason. The HD OME springs for the Grand work like a champ on the Commander. Just order them, you'll be happy.

Well im in no rush to lift the commander, well i am but it has to wait for a few more months. So if the XK lift kit is out by then ill just purchase it, if not then im still going with OME.

well, I'm not in a rush to lift the commander either. I'm just doing my due diligence on the OME kit. I'm not sure that their warranty would cover a WK kit installed on a XK. With that being said, I'd like to see what the ARB/OME says in order to base my decision on a purchase. Also, who knows if ARB has or hasn't received that many requests for this XK kit. If they haven't, another email is just another step for them to figure out if they could offer it up to us.

Anyways, I just checked and I have not heard from them yet. Will keep you all posted.

Did the OME lift give you the expected lift (2") exactly in front and rear? or more/less?

The only set of coils I found in my region is the medium load one. ordering the heavy load set would take at least two months by regular shipment. or I pay the DHL which costs more the coils.

Should I expect lower lift if I go with the medium load?

Jason,
my apologies for the delay, I set it aside to answer and hadn't yet managed to get back to it.

Anyway, you are correct that the WK suspension will fit the XK. We have test fitted the components with good success and will be adding the XK to our application guides at the next update. In most cases the heavier springs are preferred on the XK as the Commander is a bit heavier than a Grand Cherokee.

As for the light bulbs, standard 1156 bulbs will drop straight into place, I believe the ones we supply from the factory are 21 watt, but as they are normally sold in sets this may have varied a bit over the years. My recommendation would be to replace both bulbs at the same time to make sure you have a matching pair fitted.

Your TJ headlamps will accept part number 920H (housings) to work with the fatboy bulbs. Your factory headlamps are sealed beams and cannot have the bulbs replaced on their own. I would also recommend adding the M002 wire harness to the upgrade to get the most from the bulbs and reduce the current load on the factory headlamp switch. The bulbs will work without the harness upgrade, but will have diminished output as a result. Finally, the reason the dealer is only showing the housings up through 2002 is that at that time the mounting lugs on the headlamp replacements were slightly shorter creating a loose condition when the replacement was mounted. We have since made a change to correct that condition.

Disregard the second and third paragraph, those are answers for applications to my Jeep Rubicon TJ.

What about the other part of this thread ,,,, is the Commander heavier in the back than the front when its empty? that still strange !

I just recieved this info:

The lift kit for you vehicle has just hit the market.
Front OME990 Medium
Front OME991 Heavy (if you will be running an aftermarket bumper and winch)
Front lift is 50mm

Rear OME992 medium
Rear OME993 Heavy (if you be carrying additional weight, i.e. roof rack, etc.)
Rear lift is 55mm (maintains stock rake of the vehicle)

If you are interested we can have this shipped to along with the appropriate shocks based on your selection of medium or heavy duty.

This is the existing set for the WK. it works on the Commander.

I requested information on what tire size they recommend with this lift. The response was that they have not figured that out yet but they suggested going to a tire shop and test fitting tires until everyone is satisfied.

So if I understand this correctly the OME for the Commander is basically the same as the WK and it will not level out the commander since it says it will maintain the stock rake. That kinda stinks since I was hoping it would level it out. They also state the heavier coils are recommended for the Commander due to its weight but then say to use the heavier application if you are running additional weight. So is it the heavier application no matter what on the commander or I am reading too much into this. I have zero experience with lifts.

That is how I am understanding this as well.

I think that when the kit is being used in the WK you should go for the heavy duty coils in case you have constant additional weight. but in the Commander case, the Commander extra weight looks like a constant additional weight above the WK. that is why they recommended the heavy ones for the Commander.
